Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology; and The Institute for
Physical Therapy Education. The School of Human Service Professions
offers degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. The
undergraduate programs include teacher certification options available
through the Center for Education and a Bachelor of Social Work program
available through the Center for Social Work Education. Every program
involves students from their moment of entry in community-based
activities through which they apply their knowledge and skills to
address needs in the metropolitan region.
The Center for Education offers unique placement experiences for
students in the Widener Partnership Charter School, one of a very small
number of university-sponsored charter schools in the country. The
Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program offered by Institute for Graduate

In support of the Center for Education Conceptual Framework the School
of Human Professions sponsors annual events that provide undergraduate
and graduate students opportunities to celebrate academic excellence,
collaboration, diversity and lifelong learning. Among these are
Diversity Day; Interdisciplinary Day; Student Project day; and Graduate
Student Research Day. Meetings of the school are the framework for
continuing education and professional development for faculty,
addressing such topics as: student-engaged learning; instructional
applications for the university portal Campus Cruiser; course
management software. The standing committees of the School of Human
Service Professions are: the Academic Affairs Committee; Diversity
Committee; Faculty Affairs Committee; and the Promotion, Tenure,
Retention and Academic Affairs Committee. The School has endorsed and
supported many joint degrees which enhance the academic collaboration
among the 4 units of the school. These include the Human
Sexuality/Social Work master’s and doctoral degrees, the joint Master
of Social Work/Home and School Visitor certificate, and the specialist
certificate in School Psychology.
