Sitron, Ed.D., Director of Certification and Field Placement
Welcome to the Office of Field
Experiences
and Certification in the Center for Education at Widener
University. Our office provides support to students in many ways
at critical periods during their journey to become successful
teachers. We pride ourselves on offering students the tools and
resources they need to achieve their professional goals by serving as
an accessible and familiar source of information and guidance for our
students.
The following is a list of the general services we provide:
- Field
experience placement for students taking ED 101 – Introduction to
Teaching
- Assist
students with acquiring criminal background clearances and recording
them
- Facilitate
graduate and undergraduates as they apply for admission to teacher
certification
- Support
students as they prepare for, register for, and take the PRAXIS
examinations
- Secure
placements for students who are doing their semester of student
teaching (information meeting – notification, etc.)
- Provide
mentorship and supervision to students as they complete their semester
of student teaching through weekly observation and facilitation of
student teaching seminar
- Train
and oversee university supervisors who provide face-to-face direct
supervision of students during their semester of student teaching
- Assist
the Director of Teacher Intern Programs with placement and supervision
of Intern Teachers.
- Maintain
contact and collaborative relationships with cooperating
teachers/principals
- Process
all PA certification applications along with required forms for other
states for students
- Manage
the Electronic Portfolio system including orientation of students,
faculty, and oversight of the evaluation process
